NOTICE OF REFERENDUM
Referendum on how Bath & North East Somerset Council is run
1. A Referendum will be held on Thursday 10 March 2016 between 7am and 10pm in Bath & North East Somerset Council.
2. The question which will be asked in the Referendum is:–
How would you like Bath & North East Somerset Council to be run?
By a leader who is an elected councillor chosen by a vote of the other elected councillors. This is how the council is run now.
OR
By a mayor who is elected by voters. This would be a change from how the council is run now.
3. New applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by midnight on Tuesday 23 February 2016 in order for them to be effective for this Referendum.
4. New applications to vote by post, and amendments or cancellations of existing postal vote and proxy vote arrangements, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Guildhall, High Street, Bath, BA1 5AW, by 5pm on Wednesday 24 February 2016 in order for them to be effective for this Referendum.
5. New applications to vote by proxy must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Guildhall, High Street, Bath, BA1 5AW, by 5pm on Wednesday 2 March 2016 in order for them to be effective for this Referendum.
6. New applications to vote by proxy on grounds of a medical or work emergency, where that emergency occurred after 5pm on Wednesday 2 March 2016, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Guildhall, High Street, Bath, BA1 5AW, by 5pm on Thursday 10 March 2016.
